Frequently Asked Questions

Usage & Technique

How do I use the curler for the first time?

Start with clean, completely dry hair and apply a heat protectant spray throughout. Plug in the curler and select your temperature (lower for fine hair, higher for thick hair). Once heated, take a 1-2 inch section of hair, wrap it around the barrel away from your face, and hold for 5-8 seconds. Release gently and let the curl cool in your palm before moving to the next section.

How long should I hold each section of hair?

Hold each section for 5-10 seconds depending on your hair type. Fine or damaged hair needs only 5-6 seconds, while thick or coarse hair may need 8-10 seconds. Never exceed 10 seconds on any section to prevent heat damage.

Can I use this on wet or damp hair?

No, never use a curling iron on wet or damp hair. The intense heat can cause water in your hair to boil, leading to severe damage, breakage, and burns. Always ensure hair is 100% dry before heat styling.

Why won't my curls hold?

If curls fall flat quickly, try these tips: ensure hair is completely dry before curling, use a heat protectant with holding properties, increase the temperature slightly (if safe for your hair type), hold each section a bit longer, let curls cool completely before touching them, and finish with a flexible-hold hairspray. Hair that's freshly washed can be too silky—curls often hold better on second-day hair.

How do I create different curl styles?

For tight curls, use a smaller barrel and wrap smaller sections. For loose waves, use  barrel with bigger sections and hold for less time. Alternate the direction you wrap hair (toward and away from your face) for a natural look. For volume at the roots, hold the curler vertically; for spiral curls, hold it horizontally.

Should I brush my hair after curling?

Wait until curls have completely cooled (about 10-15 minutes) before touching them. Instead of brushing, gently run your fingers through curls to separate them, or use a wide-tooth comb for a softer, more relaxed wave. Brushing immediately can cause curls to fall out.

Hair Care & Safety

Will this damage my hair?

All heat styling carries some risk, but you can minimize damage significantly. Always use a heat protectant, choose the lowest effective temperature for your hair type, limit heat styling to 2-3 times per week, and never hold the curler on one section too long. Our curlers feature advanced ceramic and tourmaline technology designed to protect hair while styling.

What temperature should I use for my hair type?

Fine, thin, or color-treated hair: 250-300°F. Normal or medium-textured hair: 300-350°F. Thick, coarse, or hard-to-curl hair: 350-400°F. Always start lower and increase if needed—you can always add more heat, but you can't undo damage.

How often can I safely curl my hair?

For optimal hair health, limit heat styling to 2-3 times per week. If you must style daily, use the lowest effective temperature and always apply heat protectant. Consider alternating with heatless styling methods to give your hair regular breaks.

What heat protectant should I use?

Look for heat protectants that offer protection up to 400°F or higher. Spray formulas work well for even distribution on all hair types. Cream or serum protectants are excellent for thick or coarse hair. Apply to damp hair before blow-drying, then add a light mist to dry hair before curling for maximum protection.

Is it safe to leave the curler unattended?

Never leave any heat styling tool unattended while plugged in and hot. Always place it on a heat-resistant surface and ensure the cord is away from the hot barrel. Always turn off and unplug your curler when finished.

Maintenance & Care

How do I clean my curling iron?

Unplug the curler and let it cool completely. Wipe the barrel with a damp cloth to remove product buildup. For stubborn residue, use a cloth with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Never submerge the curler in water or use harsh chemicals.

How long will my curler last?

With proper care, a quality curling iron typically lasts 3-5 years. Signs it's time to replace include uneven heating, damaged coating on the barrel, frayed cords, or inconsistent performance. Regular cleaning and proper storage extend the lifespan.

How should I store my curler?

Always let the curler cool completely before storing. Wrap the cord loosely (never tightly around the barrel) to prevent wire damage. Store in a dry place away from moisture. If you travel frequently, consider a heat-resistant travel pouch to protect both the curler and your belongings.

Why is product building up on my barrel?

Hairspray, styling creams, and oils can accumulate on the hot barrel. Always apply finishing products like hairspray after curling, not before. If you use styling products beforehand, use them sparingly. Regular cleaning prevents buildup that can damage both the curler and your hair.

Technical Support

My curler won't heat up. What should I do?

First, ensure it's properly plugged in and the outlet is working. Check that you've turned it on and selected a temperature. If the display lights up but it won't heat, try a different outlet. If it still doesn't work, contact our customer service team for troubleshooting or warranty service.

The temperature display isn't working.

Unplug the curler and let it cool completely. Plug it back in and try again. If the display remains blank or shows error codes, contact customer service. Don't use a curler with a malfunctioning temperature display, as you can't control the heat level.

The curler smells strange when I use it.

A slight smell during first use is normal as manufacturing residues burn off. If the smell persists or is very strong, unplug immediately and discontinue use. Contact customer service for a replacement. Never use a curler that smells like burning plastic or electrical components.

How do I contact customer service?

Hair Type Specific Questions

I have very fine hair that won't hold curls. Will this work for me?

Yes! Fine hair actually holds curls well when styled correctly. Use a lower temperature (250-300°F), smaller sections, and make sure hair is completely dry. Apply a light mousse before styling and let curls cool completely before touching. Fine hair often benefits from curling second-day hair rather than freshly washed hair.

My hair is extremely thick. Will this curler be powerful enough?

Our curlers reach up to 400°F and feature titanium or ceramic technology that maintains consistent heat even with thick hair. Work in smaller sections to ensure each piece gets adequate heat. You may need to hold sections slightly longer (8-10 seconds) than someone with finer hair.

Can I use this on natural, textured, or curly hair?

Absolutely! Many people with naturally curly or textured hair use curling irons to create uniform curls or define their natural pattern. Use a heat protectant, choose a temperature appropriate for your hair's thickness.

Will this work on short hair?

Yes! You can create volume, texture, and movement even on pixie cuts and bobs.
